Resources

This WISE Freshwater section is offering several data (derived) products, such as dashboards, interactive maps and layers, which present or are used as basis for assessing the status of freshwater resources. In most of the case the sources are databases storing data and information reported by Member States under legislative reporting obligations and managed by the Reportnet infrastructure .

Freshwater glossary

WISE Freshwater glossary presents a curated collection of essential terms related to freshwater studies, aimed at supporting scholars and practitioners in the fields of hydrology, ecology, and environmental science. Emphasizing scientific accuracy and clarity, it serves as a concise reference, illuminating the complex dynamics of freshwater systems and their pivotal role in sustaining ecological balance and human life.

Nature based solutions for water retention

This section of WISE Freshwater showcases a series of Nature based solutions with practical applications for improving water retention, aligned with key European water-related policy initiatives. Technical and policy officers, professionals, and researchers can explore these measures and case studies for inspiration and practical examples. The initial collection of measures and case studies originates from the “Pilot Project - Atmospheric Precipitation - Protection and efficient use of Fresh Water: Integration of Natural Water Retention Measures in River basin management ” launched by the European Commission - Environment Directorate General (DG ENV) in 2013, initially available in the NWRM website.
